Troughs are glitched when nobody is on to keep it rendered in. They will starve every time. Put meat in them but fill up dino inventory with cooked meat.

I've kept food in troughs AND on the tames. I also make it a thing to at least once every time I'm on, to go on a hunt.

Raw meat fills up more food but spoils faster. I fill up half and half on bird. 1 troff cooked prime and cooked meat. One troff raw meat. 1 troff jerky and Rex kibble as last resort. Keep raw troff and what full till you get off and hope some one doesn’t raid you.

You can always put dodo kind in Dino inventory it really does work I'd put as much as possible
