For VM's ryzen is better due to core count.. Only adding this as everything else has already been said.

I'd go ryzen but maybe wait for the refresh comming up. Ryzen chips are better value than the intel rival chips. You will find alot of intel fanboys and amd fanboys. At the end of the day get the setup that meets your requirements first. Forget the constants benchmark battles as at the end of the day your gonna be using the system not running benchmarks everyday. At the end of the day what ever chip you get you will still get a nice system.
