Lots of things to learn in this game. It will certainly depend on whether you want to play PVP or PVE. But as a general rule, for me, it would be wise to level up with explorer notes on the island first. Then begin to grind out a base in a location that is NOT near a spawn point. If you start with that, you'll be on a better foot than most.

Dont get attached to anything. Play single player till you learn the ropes, official is a cruel place. Dont eat narcoberries no matter who says otherwise. Download dododex. And dont ever expect any update to come out on the day its promised.

Put some on all targets so they shoot down rockets. Then when people try to raid you, they go cry to the server host saying your base is on "god mode"
