Hello everyone, just a quick question.

Is the 5.0 update only bricking day 1 consoles, or are all Switch's being effected?

I bought my Switch 2 weeks ago. Should I be safe? Not sure if Nintendo has done any hardware or software changes in the past year.

Before you update, make sure the switch is docked and the battery is at 100%, just for a safety measure. Mine is a day 1 and I haven’t had any issues since the update, but can never be too sure, ya know?

My first switch haven’t bricked and my second is fine. I honestly thought those who’ve been bricked had unauthorized software on their switch since Nintendo is going on a rampage for 3ds hackers but I guess that’s not the case .

Being day 1 isn't the issue. From what I've seen the reason hasn't been determined yet. Mine updated just fine however

Day one, no issues. Nobody knows what exactly about the update is causing, or if it's even a brick. Some people have solved it, apparently.

No but using a 3rd party dock can brick your Switch. Example would be a Nyko dock
