Considering you can get a 144hz 1440p 1ms 27" for about $400... IPS or a good Dell TN (a very well known and high quality TN) I dunno if double the price is worth it.

Why would you think it's overkill, serioisly?!... GTX 1080 Ti is minimum gpu for 4K. Gtx 1080 is 1440p card and soon to be a 1080p card
