Can anyone give me some advice as to why things work this way

My first season I got ranked low silver (given I was new so I didn’t complain)

But this season I did all my placements with my boyfriend and we won 8/10 of them
Through almost all the games I had gold elims at around 40+ & in general he just wasn’t doing great and at the end when we finished ours he got High gold (pretty much plat) and i got silver again

So why did he get placed higher than me when I did better??

Is it bc I was silver in the past??

I don't think W/L in placements really matter, but what i'm sure about is that you're gonna be placed the same rank (or somewhere near) as your previous season
