so my switch has been on the dock since last night and y joy cons were hooked up to the switch and i went to play it just and joy cons not working unless attached to the switch . and it worked fine yesterday when i used it. and the battery fir the joy cons say 100% on both of then. why is it?

yes i have they just have the light flash then turn off. but work when attached to the switch

Full power down and turn back on. If that doesn't solve it do a hard turn off and power on. Worked for me when I had the issue. Hold the home button for the right one and see if that turns it on

now they are working when i went to check if airplane mode was on

Reboot your console, resync, and try to charge again. Check the joy-con are charging (use the controller icon on the home screen), both controllers and the tablet should be shown charging.
