I don't know man, I have a friend who's running 4x8GB on a gaming rig and I have 2x8, I didn't notice much of a difference at all, granted a lot of the other specs were about the same but still...
MORE RAM BETTER... You can make any portion of your ram as RAM disk wich is the fastest memory (faster than SSD much much) and you can put a browser on that or any software....
That would depend greatly on your use case and load.
I have 32GB and can often fill it and enter the page file when compiling 3D objects, lighting, etc..
