Hello, how are you?
I am having an issue with a build.
The board is an Asus rog maximus x hero
CPU is a i7 8700k, cooler is a NZXT x62.
I installed a pair of G.skill tridend z RGB 3866Mhz DDR4
It is a 16gb kit with 2x8gb modules.

With the bios at default, and ram at 2133, the computer works normally.

If I go to the bios and enable the xmp profile to have the ram at 3866, the computer won't boot, and after a couple of tries it got to a screen that says overclock failed, press f1 to enter setup.

I don't understand...
I still haven't tried to OC the CPU.
With the CPU at stock and all other settings at default, the xmp profile doesn't work.

Do I have a faulty board? Or a faulty dimm kit?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Can you please help me out?

Thank you.
Best regards.

Possibly the dimm. I had a trident z 3600mhz 2x 16gb kit and it had constant bsod. After rma the problem was gone. I heard g.skill have some qc issues but their ram looks amazing
