Then what's the point of PSU like 1000w? I understand 750 for sli

I always shoot high on a psu. It's too cheap not too have that extra over head. If you're getting a 800 card at least get some extra insurance

Except its not insurance. Wont be "safer" because you have more powr available lol 6700k with a 1080ti will use at max 250 watt while gaming.

It is because a psu is never at 100% and its too cheap to cut it that close. Why get a top gpu and a "good enough" psu?

A 650 watt psu will never ever be at 100% with his setup lol. And its not about being good enough. More watts doesnt mean better quality....

I never said it did. But why cut it close? You can get a brand name 1000 watt for 120 bucks.

It's like putting a big turbo on a car with stock internals at 25 lbs of boost.

Nope that comparison made no sense at all. And thats not cutting it close at all either. A 650 watt psu is already overkill for his setup lol.

I assumed it wouldn't make sense to you based on how this debate is going.

Because it doesnt make sense. Wont add any safety to have more wattage lol. Stock internals with a big turbo means it will break. Less wattage wont do that in any way

All I'm saying is 650 watts, with a 1080ti and other parts seems risky. Like I said, it's too cheap to go bigger. A 1080ti calls for 600, minimum. 650 is rather weak for a 1080ti build.

Risky on what way lolll if its not enough it shuts down and thats it. A 1080ti uses at max 250 watts. A 6700k is max 100 watts. Full custom loop at max 50 watts.... thats 400 watts if you stress test the whole machine wich will never happen in game. Thats a big ZERO risk about using a 650 watts psu. Stop saying non sense please.

The brand/quality matter as well. OP didn't say which brand. A cheap 650 is likely 400 at most.

Why risk shutdown on a high end build??

A cheap 650 watt psu is still 650 watt. Ffs stop saying bullshit lol

No it's not....jesus. have you never seen psu stress tests? There's only 100 on YouTube proving my point...
