So I'm trying to download a game and it's taking a while (horrible connection to begin with and it's storming), and I was wondering if there's anyway to help speed things up.

You could get an Ethernet adapter and plug your router into your switch directly. I'm thinking of doing this because I live in a rural area and my connection is terrible. Or try calling your ISP and complaining, that sometimes works

Change the MTU to 1500 on your connection settings
