so im looking for a second build for my girlfrieds house. my buddy has a old build hed sell me for cheap the specs are (evga z75 mobo, i7-3300, gtx 660 oc gpu, corsair h100 liquid cooler, ax1200 psu, 16gb corsair ram) he only wants 150bucks so i feel it would be ideal seeing ide only be using it on the weekends and what not. now my question is if i buy a used gtx 970 would that bottleneck the i7? thanks for any info!

I would think not. And if so, it shouldn't be much of one. My old i5 2400 runs perfect with a 1050ti, so the i7 should be able to handle a 970

okay and the mobo is a 1155 socket is that a dead socket?

For $150 it’s a steal. You could sell the cpu alone for $100-ish.
