Not really. Just mostly running around unlocking shrines and towers for later in the game is a good thing to do.

You can cook food to increase your speed slightly. There are speed up outfits as well

Bro, exploration is a huge part of the gameplay. Just walk/run to your destination, you'll find something new every time you travel
