Yes, sometimes lower tier items have better armor than higher tier items

It's a trade off: one will take off more damage per hit, the other will last more hits over time

Also if you staying warm matters (like temperatures in the negatives on Rag) might check the Hypothermal, esp if armor/durability has a small gap.

So the insulation on the master craft is still 20 higher. And the durability is 70 more. MasterCraft is still better.

Also if you put points into crafting (or mind wipe and put all your points into crafting if you plan on making them in bulk) that should even out the armor if not make it higher
