Final Fantasy IX. I'd call it rare because it's one of the most underrated of the group.

This underrated gem was another one for me. Hard as nails, had a forgettable story, but damn was it amazing. This game actually paved the way for Ratchet and Clank's massive level design in my honest opinion, as no other 3D action platformer up until this game had maps that were several miles large with a lot of things going on in them. It also scratched that Contra itch that PSX players had at the time of being underwhelmed by shit shows such as Legacy of War and Contra Adventure.
