Should I buy the 1080 now or wait for volta and buy a 1050 ti and invest 600€ the next year?

Throw a 5 GB HDD in there for backup and mass storage.

That SSD will run out of space fast.

Don't wait for Volta, by the way.

There have been no statements in regard to Volta having a gaming lineup employed in it's architecture.

Volta revolves entirely around Tensor/Deep Learning Cores. Which isn't even remotely applicable to gaming.

Just get a 1080 or 1080 Ti.

Since you may be waiting for nothing with Volta.

The 1080 and 1080 Ti are still going to be viable for a few more years, anyway. Since Pascal is still doing exceedingly well with 4K gaming.

For an 8700k? The only card it should be paired with is the 1080Ti. Unless you don't Game much. You don't mix high end with budget. If you wait for the volta equivalent (11080Ti/2080Ti) it's going to be a while.
