with the disc version could experience the issue.

The issue is serious, of course, but it is not very widespread, as Capcom said it only impacts a small subset of the total playerbase. Still, it's unfortunate for those affected. There is a very specific set of circumstances leading to this bug, and thankfully there is a way to avoid it.

"The only situation where you will encounter this bug is if you have updated the game and have save data from the latest update, but later uninstall the game then reinstall from disc and attempt to use the save data without having applied the update," Capcom said. "The updated save data and older game will be recognized as not compatible and the game may prompt you to create new save data as it may read the existing data as corrupt."

To avoid this bug, do not create new save data at this point, or else it will overwrite your previous save. It's advised instead that you close the game and update it. "This will then ensure your save data stays intact and will work properly. Again, you will only lose your save data if you choose to accept the option to create a new save in this scenario, which would overwrite your prior data," Capcom said.

Here is more on the bug,

:

  • "If you have save data from the latest update and at some point later do need to re-install the game from your disc, please make sure you connect to Xbox Live and apply the latest update after reinstalling from the disc but before you play the game.
  • Unfortunately due to the nature of the bug, there is no current fix available but if proper steps are followed, it can be avoided. This is only known to affect Xbox One physical disc versions under the specific condition above."
