I know this is going to get me some static, but TBH I prefer Axiom Verge to Super Metroid. It feels superior to me.

Personally, I love that game. I found the puzzles to be challenging and the graphics to be delightfully retro, without being simply bad to look at. It's sort of the perfect blend of original Metroid gameplay with some of the more modern aspects, like a map and save points.
If you're a die-hard Metroid fan, you'll most likely love it!
