I'm planning on building a cheap gaming / HTPC for my bedroom and I have an old LGA775 motherboard that I for free a while ago.
CPU wise I'm going the LGA771 mod route so I can squeaze the most out of the old 775 socket.
Here's the specs i'm planning for it.
GTX 760 SC 2GB GDDR5
Intel Xeon X5460 3.16 GHz Quad-Core
4GB DDR2 RAM @800MHz
ASUS P5KPL-SE Motherboard with the LGA771 Mod and a modified BIOS.
Coolermaster Extreme Power-Plus 500W PSU
So my question is will that CPU be a bottleneck and will the RAM make a noticeable difference in my performance in modern games? If the build goes fine and all I'll consider getting a DDR3 LGA775 motherboard down the road
