I just had an idea about the new Smash Bros. Since it seems like this is going to be a new Smash and not a port, and it’s had a rather fast development cycle, what if the new Smash has a model like Splatoon or Arms, where the base game starts somewhat light (like a Melee sized roster) and more characters/stages/modes/etc were added through free updates? I’m not sure if I’m in love with the idea, but the more i think about it, the more it feels like it’s possible.

While it wouldn’t be ideal, if it were free updates, I wouldn’t be upset. It’s the paid DLC that kills me.

I would be SO down! But I would like it if the updates were regular and we knew what they were beforehand. New characters could be "New character" and they get revealed a little closer to release
