As a family, I'd say Mario Kart. Even for really young kids, it's great since it has the assistance options.

Mario Kart is great for families. Snipperclips, and binding of Isaac are good. Don't waste your money on Splatoon 2.

I actually love ARMS as a party / group game, but I understand I’m in the minority. Maybe watch some gameplay videos to get a feel for whether or not it’s your type of game.

Other than that, I second the recommendations for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario kart and Tetris would be good for family game night. Arms could be fun too but it’s only two players on one switch.
For self, Mario odyssey, Zelda and splatoon 2. Also I recommend Stardew valley, shovel knight and sonic mania.
