Hello everyone. My 7yo son is new to 3ds. He had been playing Pokémon y (he calls it ultra sun). Today he got ultra moon and he finds it to be exactly the same. Is that the case? When can he expect to see different Pokémon and people?

I haven't played Pokemon in years, but there are different versions of the same game with some changes. Different Pokemon available, not sure if different gyms, battles, trainers, etc
