Steam doesn't remove old files so it's always a good idea to do fresh installs every so often

I half solved this by having the game read the maps and the mods off of an ssd

I hear ya ended up having to move Ark from my SSD drive back to my main drive sad panda day for that one for sure all because of the same issue.

Didn't have any issues. I run my games from a striped array. Runs plenty fast.
