You will not see any GPU prices before Summer. There's a lot of shortage and it's not easy restore the state the GPU market was in the start. Just buy now whatever you can before it rises even more.

Having said that, it'll be a temporary glitch. Cryptos are very volatile, and always have been. They'll bounce back when the market realizes it doesn't need South Korea.
The crash was brought about due to South Korea announcing plans to look into banning cryptos.

I do feel sorry for gamers trying to build a pc at the moment. I helped my little cousin right before this get a 6gb 1060 for $100 and now it would be impossible

There’s only really one thing manufactures can do to fix this problem. They need to make dedicated mining cards that mine at a higher hash rate than the current “gaming cards”. They need to do this while keeping the dedicated mining cards around the same price as gaming cards if not lower. Basically separating the two markets altogether.
