Why do people create Smurf accounts? Genuinely curious

My friend bought 5 smurfs. They're for different reasons, some re for learning heroes easier. He went a bit overboard so I have one of them.

For me personally, playing at my rank got dull and my friends have too low an SR for me to play with them otherwise. I use it to play the game casually and have fun. I'm not a fan of stomping so I don't go all out however I do hunt down and decimate toxic players.

2. To practice other heroes
3. To try to place higher because they think they’re not in the proper rank
4. To climb ranks/ bronze to gm

Have you tried wanting to play in a non serious way but your current stats are high and you don't want it to be wasted or damaged. That's act

Just to give them satisfaction that they’re better and should be placed higher. Eventually, they drop to their main account rank. Unless they stop playing on it.
