well if you are conservative joy cons for future games. hardcore gaming go with pro. joy for fun - pro for pwn

I prefer playing it on handheld mode with motion on, too confusing on tv with separate controller

If you don't have a pro controller yet, I recommend it. So comfortable for long play. If you are going to need Xtra joycons, go that route. I got the Splatoon pro controller at launch with the game, then scored a original pro controller on offer up.
