If you are building a new rig, there is no reason to us the 7700. That socket is done.

if youre starting new and dont have either, then you should get the 8700k, if you already have the 7700 just stay with it. Theres 0 reason to upgrade.

The 8600k is better than the 7700k

8700k. Even if you have to save and wait a month. It’s worth the extra money long term.

You'll have to go with the 7700 if you've already got the mobo, the two sockets are not compatible and the performance difference doesn't justify the purchase of a new motherboard

So I think I'm going with the 8700 lol. Sorry guys kind of dumb question, but still don't hurt to get other people's input.

ive heard even intel didnt recommend OC the i7 7700k because its hit 100c something.

I chose 8700k and I have to say one thing - I’m impressed after upgrading from 4790k
