Noob question. My wife's computer has a 4790k in it. What's the best CPU that will fit that board? Not sure if we should upgrade her computer or just build a new one.

Edit. I edit 4K video using premier pro and after effects for a living and I'm trying to work faster than the iMac will let me. That's why we may upgrade. I already have to upgrade the gpu and I was wondering what's possible with the current build.

I'm not even overclocking with the same cpu ive had it 3 years with no problems its a good cpu for its age

No point in upgrading at all. A kick butt cpu still and not far behind a 7700k. Only way I would upgrade if your editing 4k video and streaming while gaming and could take advantage of 8 cores of a ryzen cpu. Would be easy to sell this build if you want to start again.

Yeah 4790k is a flagship cpu for its generation you can't do any better without going ryzen or x99 or eww x299
