Is it normal for PC resolution to look like shit after swapping to a better gpu? Drivers I'm guessing?

Yep, drivers. Do a fresh install to stop confliction

take the battery out of the Mobo, or clear cmos..

Ddu " display driver uninstaller " download latest version from guru3d or your favorite trusted side, extract this and run it in safe mode , reboot back to normal windows and install current drivers for your gpu

Yeah I checked device manager and it only lists the default Microsoft display. The gpu is connected, the fans are spinning and I'm also connected directly to it with an hdmi
