I got an SSD, migrated what I wanted on it from HDD, but cant get my pc to boot from...

I got an SSD, migrated what I wanted on it from HDD, but cant get my pc to boot from SSD. Ive tried a bunch of things but nothing worked. Does anyone know why?

did you change boot order so the bios isnt looking for the old drive?

its not connected, either by failure or by disconnected cables

sata, power, formatted drive, all result in non read

also check your mobo sata, swap the ports

Its plugged in i can see it in device config but in the boot order it only shows windows boot manager, usb hard drive and usb floppy/cd

possibly not configured properly, give it a format and migrate again

If it’s a SATA ssd, sometimes trying out swapping it to the primary connection (likely the one your hdd is using) works. Don’t ask why - but it worked for me lol

When setting up my m.2 960 evo I had to disconnect my hdd for it to recognise the m.2 as a boot drive, not sure if it's the same for standard ssd's but might be worth a shot if you havent tried already

Probably need a bios flash. That happened to me.

Did you clone the HDD or just copy files? If all you did was copy files then you didn't copy the boot sector which tells the bios there is an OS here. My recommendation is to die fresh installation of Windows on the SSD. Use the old HDD to store music and videos (and porn) as well as non-critical stuff like documents and only use the SSD for Programs and Windows.
