How long is too long for a CPU to be running very hot? Left my pc running while watching the grand final yesterday, came back and noticed my h100i v2 pump had failed and CPU was at 100 degrees Celsius. Would've been an hour or two max, is my 6700K likely fingered or...is there hope?

If it didn't shut off, it's likely fine

it should be fine,normally if the temps are to high it will shut down immediately to prevent further dmg

Ok thanks yeah it did throttle quite a lot only noticed because I was playing new vegas and fps was really crap and loading times went way up, looked at my temp and almost shit my pants

I've had my pump unplugged by accident and hit 95C at 800mhz on my 7700k so I wouldn't worry, my CPU was perfectly fine

nothing in your PC should ever be too hot to touch somethings wrong

it wont kill your cpu overnight but it will shorten its life
