Finally i got around to delidding my total dud of a 7700K which i've had since launch. On air, it hit 80 celcius, with spikes to 85c at fucking stock speeds, in a typical gaming scenario.

After delidding and application of conductonaut liquid metal, i can report 68c with spikes to 72c, with 100% synthetic load. About 60c when gaming. Same air cooler, same brand of Noctua TIM. Now, THAT, is what i call a result!

Plus, now the be quiet! silent wings 3 fans barely spin up, even when gaming. Should have done this when i got that CPU nearly a year ago.. It's been bugging me all this time.

Time to some OC tinkering! Now i've got the headroom for it.
