Even though I never got the Champions’ Ballad yet (And won’t until I beat the regular story), the concept of this expansion is kinda reminiscent of Ura Zelda, an expansion of OoT that became Zelda Gaiden and eventually Majora’s Mask. Ura Zelda was supposed to add tons of new stuff to OoT, kinda like a historical version of modern day DLC. Do some research and you’ll see just how similar the ideas are.
