Will a 1080Ti give me a decent performance increase over my 1070 if I'm only running a 3770K, or should I keep the 1070 and get a new Mobo and 8700k? I'd much rather get the video card since it's easier to change out. ( not too computer savvy)

If you overclock the 3770k you'll be fine

I run a 3770k with a 970 sli and most of the time at 1440p my cards both run at 99% and the processor runs around 30-40% running with a easy 4.3 ghz overclock

I'd get the 1080ti and wait until next year to build a new system

I'm thinking of doing it at tax time, i run a gsync monitor so amd is a no go for me, but i'm curious what the new ryzen iteration will bring, all the current intel stuff is knee jerk reaction to amds increased market share so it all sucks, the 8700k is just a 7700k with a couple of cores strapped on and it puts off more heat than a jet engine, once they iron it out and get the temperatures under control i'll reconsider

It's a 25% gap between the 1070 and 1080, and a 30% gap between the 1080 and Ti. Sooo.... 1070 performance X 1.25 X 1.3, so about a 62.5% performance increase between the 1070 and 1080Ti

Your cpu wil be a huge bottle neck. I went fron a 1070 to a 1080ti with a 3570k running at 4.5 and gaing virtually nothing. The moment I put the 8700k in it doubled everything.

New mobo and CPU . Then 1070 is perfectly fine. Il

What resolution, and are you happy with your current performance?

the gpu is maxxed.... so no bottleneck for an overclocked 3770k

Good video thanks. 70 FPS seems a bit low for 1440p though doesn't it? I'd like to get 100+

my 970 sli is comparable to a 1070 and it runs about 90 fps on witcher 3 depending on hairworks and other settings

they compare to a 3770k another good article, I just think the benefit you would get from a whole new system with a 1070 wouldn't be as good as the benefit from beefing up your current one and running a 1080ti, also considering you can swap out motherboard memory and processor down the road, even a ryzen r5 1600x would handle a 1080ti and is very reasonable.
