We did a test just to clear up any future debates on questions about building materials and which is best for building on the surface of aberration.

Tek Sheild will protect you from the creatures on the surface not the sun you will still burn also the Sheild will only last two days on the surface before being destroyed.

We placed one of every kind of foundation on the surface ( thatch, wood, stone, Adobe, metal and Tek).
None lasted even a day. NONE....

So looks like unless your playing single player with it set to be night all the time the surface is to be a no man's land.

When i where up there with a rock drake I noticed that he couldn't get burnt when he was climbing up the side of something maybe a platform with something built on it might work
