Started playing Star Citizen and used a HOTAS for the first time. Went to an elimination mission with a starter ship (mustang alpha) and no matter how many times I hit an NPC, their shields wouldn't drop. It was good practice, because I was trying to kill one of them for a good 25 minutes and it helped me get my aim on point, but in the end I just flew away because it didn't feel like I was making any progress. Any players have some insight?

Trade the ship for the one with missile. Lasers are just meh cause you can reinforce shields on the side where you are shooting at. No bleed either.
