Does it feel like it's a longish game? Is there combat? I know I saw in the trailer they were running from a wolf or dog, but can you kill said enemies and cook them for food?

It is a survival game and is endless if you want it to be. You survive until you die and then try again. If you get to the point where you can build a bow, then you can shoot animals, if you call that "combat."
