Question, I'm wanting to test out settings and other stuff before renting a server, when I host my own session can I save my progress to pick back up at a later time or will I need to start fresh everytime?

it auto saves i rented a private server there is no point to it unless you have alot of friebds looking to join it and than even than you cant xfer items between your server and official servers
