Is there still that tether that makes you have to stay by the host in non-dedicated? If so, is it any bigger than it used to be?

Yes the tether is still there, and no they didn't change the distance. They had a scale at one time but people abused it. There was a glitch to make it where you can take it off. Ark said that console wasn't never supposed have it and took it away.
