Hey i've a question i wanna ask for awhile, maybe sounds noobish.
Why does my games when i play them at 4k ultra always stutter?
I don't use all the vram sometimes only 3 or 4gb

Like assassin's creed origin 4k ultra and my frames drop to 20-30fps while i only use 4gb vram.

My specs :

GTX FTW 1080 OC'D 2200MHZ AT 5005MHZ. RUNS AT 56-75°c
Maximus viii ranger.
32gb ddr4 2666 memory.
I7-6700k @ 4.8ghz runs stable at 47-67°c while gaming.
Samsung evo 850 ~ 500gb ssd.
1x 2.5 seagate sshd 1tb.
1x 3.5 WD hdd 1tb.

2200mhz is pretty bloody high. Have you tryed running it without a clock? Theres a point which it actually causes problems rather then gaining fps

do you have gsync monitor? if no, maybe that's the reason of the stutter

Try going into Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Max Pre-rendered frames (set to 1). Also, make sure you set Vertical Sync to G-Sync and disable in game v-sync.

Correct me if im wrong, but 1080 on 4k is not gonna get you 60fps all the time on ultra. Im running a 1080ti and decided to stay on 1440p for now. I feel 4k is just so demanding.

cause GTX 1080 isn't for 4K. There's not enough gpu for handling 4k. current gen GPUs are underpowered

If you want smooth 4k get another 1080 or buy a 1080ti or wait for Volta. 1080s will run 4k but not all games will run smooth at high fps as differant games will have different demands as they may or may not be optimized

Also just cuz you have 8gb of video ram does not mean just cuz your not using it all that the game will run well.
