You have the latest windows update? Mine did this yesterday and was doing all kinds of crazy stuff including saying I had no signal on the monitor. It fixed it self by finally doing the update.

Check your event logs and use Google

Sounds like RAM or motherboard failure. RAM is more likely. If you have two sticks, remove one and see if it stops. If it continues, swap the one that is in.
