Windows defender? Seriously? Malewarebytes, avg pro and I usually would say Avast but they've been slipping here lately. Windows defender is basically Window's maleware

windows defender eliminates most of the lag, some popups, marketing, and even outrageous features that will never improve experience from 3rd party anti virus, sure they are great, but the fact that you cant uninstall them is a big red flag

for usb devices, i use a dual boot hackintosh

Best thing to do is get a good Anti virus and maleware program and either get rid of Windows Defender manually or download Shut up windows which is a program that'll disable Defender and a ton of other spying software and bloatware on Windows 10

Avast for Anti-Virus

Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner for anti-malware

CCleaner to fix your registry and remove junk.

uBlock Origin to block ads that are mostly malware.

All of those and you're completely solid. Well unless you torrent, but then Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner will clean it up. Unless it's like a miner or something super bad, which in that case don't be stupid and download from unknown sources.
