Question about Xenoblade. Spoilers ahead, consider yourself prewarned...

So I beat Aion (I think that's the name) at the space station, it came crashing down, I watched the credits and the game's over. The game saves after the credits run and I load it up to play some more, continue finding rare blades, etc. It loads me back to the door before the final boss again. Is that what happens? Is there no "endgame"? I figured I'd still be able to go around and finish stuff up afterwards.

Sounds like the endgame of BOTW.

Yes thats it. The load screen is no different and you should have a little medal in one of the menus that letbyou know you beat it.

Similar to the ends of Zelda games, they set you back before the final boss fight

Well that's a bit of a bummer

They're adding a new game plus with the next update.

You can leave that area after you load the save and go do anything you want. Really, this isn't that hard a concept to grasp. It's just like Breath of the Wild.

I mean, how else would you max out your levels, and fight the postgame superbosses.
