I'm really enjoying Wonderboy, definitely worth the $20. It reminds me of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link but without the overworld map; also kind of like Castlevania 3 where you can change form and climb on walls. The enemies actually move in tricky ways to avoid your weapon and it's hard to avoid getting hit.
I also really like the art style and the way you can switch to the 8-bit version on the fly. I really wish they'd do this with a lot more 8-bit and 16-bit classics... Give them an HD update but let you change back to the original version any time. Metroid, Castlevania and Zelda games would look sweet. (Metroid Zero Mission was cool but it changed too much, it was like a whole different game.)
