oh for Pool of Radiance, there is a keyboard command to launch it that removes the "wheel of copy protection" questions from being asked. There are also a few editors out there now for character values, but a hex editor works well too.

There is a Hex value you can move CON to (IIRC what the number was, I think 34?) that gives you a CON bonus to HP of more than a hundred. There is some sort of integer value that once you exceed your HP rolls over, so it's handy to edit it at character creation, modify the character to push it over 100 HP, level a couple of times with it, and then bring it back down to 18 or 19. that'll keep you close to the sweet spot of 300-325 HP.
